Pierwsza Europejska konferencja użytkowników R (2016) już za nami.

Konferencja była fantastycznie zorganizowana (kudos to Maciej Beręsewicz i cały komitet organizacyjny). Było bardzo dużo ciekawych prezentacji i bardzo bardzo dużo ciekawych ludzi. Bardzo różnorodne środowisko, zarówno biznes jak i akademia, weterani (przyjechał nawet Rob Hyndman z Australii) jak i studenci.
Atmosfera jak z najlepszych edycji useR’ów.

Prezentacje są dostępne na GitHubie. Jest ich naprawdę dużo (i pewnie będą spływać kolejne).
Aby zorientować się od czego zacząć, można zapoznać się z książką abstraktów.

Z wydarzeń europejskich wracamy do Warszawy.
W przyszłym tygodniu w Warszawie mamy kolejną edycję SERów. Tym razem w ramach RLadies warsztaty z R.
W sumie 7 grup, cztery wprowadzające do R i trzy poświęcone wizualizacji.
Warsztaty wprowadzające poprowadzą: Agnieszka Tomczyk, Marcin Kosiński, Olga Mierzwa-Sulima, Natalia Potocka.
Warsztaty z ggplot2 poprowadzą: Katarzyna Sobiczewska, Marta Sommer, Przemysław Biecek.

W mojej grupie warsztatowej planuję wykorzystać dane o popularności odcinków seriali telewizyjnych zebranych z portalu IMDB. Ale jeżeli macie pomysł na inne ciekawe dane to dajcie znać.

A już za miesiąc w ramach SERów planujemy spotkanie tematyczne ’Bio+R’. Szczególnie zapraszamy osoby zainteresowane biostatystyką i bioinformatyką. Będą przedstawiciele różnych firm, będą ludzie z uczelni, będzie można dowiedzieć się co ciekawego i gdzie można robić z danymi genetycznymi.

The european R users meeting [eRum] is going to start in just 7 days.

We expect over 250 participants, 10 invited talks, 47 regular talks, 13 lightning talks and 12 posters. In order to handle that much content we scheduled 18 sessions [+ workshops].

As you see the conference is full of very interesting stuff. So, get prepared and see you in Poznań!

European R users meeting will be a great place to learn and share ideas on R. Moreover, we have already confirmed the following invited talks:

European R users meeting is an international conference that aims at integrating users of the R language. eRum 2016 will be a good chance to exchange experiences, broaden knowledge on R and collaborate. One can participate in eRum 2016:
(1) with a regular oral presentation,
(2) with a lightning talk,
(3) with a poster presentation,
(4) or attending without presentation nor poster.

Due to space available at the conference venue, organizers set limit of participants at 250 (only 97 left!).

Call for Papers: eRum 2016 (European R users meeting)

The European R users meeting (eRum) is an international conference that aims at integrating users of the R language. eRum 2016 will be held on October 13 and 14, 2016, in Poznan, Poland at the Poznan University of Economics and Business. We already confirm the following invited speakers: Rasmus Bååth, Romain Francois, Ulrike Grömping, Matthias Templ, Heather Turner, Przemysław Biecek, Marek Gągolewski, Jakub Glinka, Katarzyna Kopczewska and Katarzyna Stąpor.

We would like to bring together participants from around the world. It will be a good chance to exchange experiences, broaden knowledge of R and collaborate. The conference will cover topics including:

• Bayesian Statistics,
• Bioinformatics,
• Economics, Finance and Insurance,
• High Performance Computing,
• Reproducible Research,
• Industrial Applications,
• Statistical Learning with Big Data,
• Spatial Statistics,
• Teaching,
• Visualization & Graphics,
• and many more.

We invite you to participate in eRum 2016:
(1) with a regular oral presentation,
(2) with a lightning talk,
(3) with a poster presentation,
(4) or without a presentation or poster.

Due to limited space at the conference venue, the organizers have set a limit for the number of participants at 250 and persons with regular/lighting talks/posters will be considered first and those attending without a presentation or poster will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please make your submission online at http://erum.ue.poznan.pl/#register. The submission deadline is June 15, 2016. Submitters will be notified via email by July 1, 2016 of acceptance. Additional details will be announced via the eRum conference website.
